The UK/China Graduate Work Experience Programme

Jason, Ish and Jane at UK / China internship event

The UK/China Graduate Work Experience Programme is a joint project of the UK Government’s Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills and the Ministry of Education in China. The programme aims to promote academic, cultural and business understanding between the two countries; and therefore offers up to 200 of China’s most promising university students the opportunity to live and work in the UK for 3 to 12 months. There are presently over 100 graduates from China in employment with UK companies as part of this programme; many of whom have already impressed their employers so much that they have been offered full time roles with these employers both in the UK and upon their return to China.

To date over 50% of the sixty businesses taking part in the programme are from the banking and finance sector with companies such as Standard Chartered Bank, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan, Swiss Re, Royal & Sun Alliance, Nomura, ISI Emerging Markets, Euromoney and the CLSA supporting the programme.

GAAPS is participating in this year’s programme and welcomes Jason Li who has joined us as a trainee consultant for the upcoming year.

Ish and Jane welcomed Jason when they attended the welcome event of the UK / China Graduate Work Experience Programme at London Zoo.

32 new interns and their employers had the opportunity to meet and mingle. The event organizers – GTI gave introductory talks and we could finally put names to faces. GTI have been excellent and involvement in the programme has been seemless and effortless from our end.

For more info about the programme visit www.ukchinagrad.com or read the GTI press release and the BBC News report (Chinese).
